Menhir La Cupa II
Scorrano (LE)
Object Type: Menhir
Staus: Present
Latitude: 40.08875

Description: The monolith is situated on the roadside, included in a dry wall that delimits a land. It has tapered corners forming an octagonal base; the end is quadrangular and it is decorated by a frieze on all four sides. Such element led Palumbo to believe that the monolith dated back to medieval times and it was erected to be dedicated to some saint for the protection of the Contrada. Malagrinò thought that the menhir had been altered and reused in historical times. Small fractures are visible on the North-West corner, as well as residues of lime.
